DiamondTomeâ„¢ Microdermabrasion uses a combination of diamond chips and a vacuum to exfoliate and sweep lifeless cells away. Skin is left lithe and vibrantly new.
To help our patients achieve smoother skin texture, American Skin Institute providers administer DiamondTome microdermabrasion in our Westlake Village and Sherman Oaks practices. This high-precision microdermabrasion technology allows our experts to treat a variety of skin conditions, including dark spots on face, dull skin, fine lines and wrinkles, and acne scars, among other skin conditions. Further, when receiving DiamondTome in our Westlake Village and Sherman Oaks offices, our patients have the benefit of working with highly-trained and experienced professionals, who have a deep understanding of nuanced microdermabrasion techniques.
How DiamondTome Microdermabrasion Works
Microdermabrasion techniques and technologies have evolved greatly over the years. When patients contact us for microdermabrasion in Westlake Village or Sherman Oaks, they’re typically only familiar with crystal microdermabrasion.
In the crystal method, the skin is blasted with tiny crystals that dislodge skin cells due to the force with which they hit the skin. Although this can be a very effective way to aggressively resurface the skin, it can also be more difficult to apply evenly. For example, crystals can sometimes clump up, causing more exfoliation in one area than in another. With DiamondTome microdermabrasion, this is less of a concern, because there are no crystals involved.
Instead, the applicator of the DiamondTome machine uses diamond tips that are scrubbed against the skin. This puts a lot more control at the hands of our aesthetics providers in Westlake Village and Sherman Oaks.
For example, if an area needs more exfoliation due to hyperpigmentation, the tip can be passed over the skin several times. Further, because no crystals are involved, there is no chance of clumping, which reduces the chance of uneven exfoliation.
To make the DiamondTome microdermabrasion process even more efficient, the machine uses suction to lift the dead skin cells away from the treatment area. This has two benefits. Firstly, it decreases the chances of pore clogging, as the dead cells are removed almost immediately. Secondly, it allows our aestheticians in Westlake Village and Sherman Oaks to clearly see the skin during treatment.
Is DiamondTome Microdermabrasion Safe?
When you visit American Skin Institute practices in Westlake Village or Sherman Oaks for DiamondTome treatment, you will be working with skilled providers who know how to administer this treatment safely. All of our providers have extensive training with the proper microdermabrasion techniques, and have helped many of our patients achieve radiant skin with DiamondTome. We have the training and the experience to avoid the errors that cause uneven exfoliation or extensive irritation.
Does DiamondTome Microdermabrasion Hurt?
When administered properly, DiamondTome microdermabrasion does not hurt. Patients who have undergone DiamondTome treatment in our Westlake Village and Sherman Oaks practices typically report slight discomfort during this procedure, as the tool tip is moved across the skin. However, the treatment feels like scrubbing of the skin, and is well tolerated by most patients, without the use of any numbing creams.
Is there a Potential for Skin Damage?
In the wrong hands, DiamondTome treatments can be dangerous in several ways. Firstly, novice or untrained providers tend to pass over the skin too many times in one treatment, which causes significant irritation, and even bruising. Secondly, novice providers often apply the treatment unevenly, which can make the skin appear uneven.
To help our patients achieve healthy skin, get rid of wrinkles, scars and hyperpigmentation, we’ve built a team of highly-trained and experienced providers. When you visit our practices in Sherman Oaks or Westlake Village for DiamondTome treatment, your procedure will be performed by trained experts who will take great care to exfoliate your skin safely.
