MOLES

At American Skin Institute, we prioritize the health and safety of our patients when it comes to evaluating moles. Moles, medically known as nevi, can vary widely in appearance and potential risk. Our board-certified dermatologists conduct thorough examinations to assess each mole’s characteristics, including size, color, shape, and any changes over time. We use state-of-the-art dermatoscopy, a non-invasive technique that magnifies the skin, to closely examine moles for signs of irregularity or melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer.

Patients can expect a comprehensive consultation where we discuss any concerns and educate on the ABCDEs of melanoma detection (Asymmetry, Border irregularity, Color variation, Diameter larger than a pencil eraser, Evolution or change over time). If a mole exhibits suspicious features, we may recommend a biopsy, a simple procedure to remove a small sample of tissue for laboratory examination. Whether for routine monitoring or evaluating concerning moles, our goal is to provide accurate diagnoses and proactive care, ensuring peace of mind and promoting long-term skin health for all our patients.
